Flo was born in Loerrach, Germany and first stood on a pair of skis at age 5.  He was schooled in Switzerland and spent much time in the Alps skiing, snowboarding and ski touring.  He moved to Valemount, British Columbia at age 20 and enrolled in the Northern Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism Program, and then went on to obtain his Adventure Guide Diploma from Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC.  His future plans are to become a full ACMG ski guide.

In the summer, Flo works as a rafting guide.
