At 23, Grant was one of the youngest Canadians to achieve his full UIAGM Mountain Guide Certificate. Grant started working for Crescent Spur in 1997. In 2004 he accepted a job as Public Avalanche Risk Specialist and has been able to work his schedule to continue heli-ski guiding on a part time basis. In 2005 Grant was awarded a Public Service Award of Excellence where he was recognized for his outstanding work in conceiving, developing and implementing an enhanced avalanche awareness and public safety program for Canada’s mountain parks. Grant also received the Canadian Avalanche Association’s Professional Award for 2005.
Grant has climbed, skied and guided extensively in mountain ranges all over the world. When not working he makes his home in Canmore, Alberta with wife Jennifer and son Ryan.
